Becoming a Master Gardener

The Marion County Master Gardeners is affiliated with the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service. The Arkansas State Master Gardener Program is conducted by the U of A Cooperative Extension Service.  Classes are taught at the Marion County Extension Office in Yellville in the Fall and via self-paced online format in the Spring.

Marion County Master Gardeners monthly meetings are the second Saturday of each month at 9:00 AM at the Marion County Fairgrounds.  We have a business meeting and then an educational session. Of course, there is always a yummy snack brought by several of our members.  If you have a gardening question or plants to share, this is the place.

Becoming a Master Gardener can be a rewarding experience with numerous benefits. One of the key advantages is the opportunity to expand your knowledge and expertise in gardening through specialized training programs. These programs cover a wide range of topics such as plant science, soil health, pest management, and sustainable gardening practices, allowing you to become a trusted resource in your community for gardening advice and guidance.

Additionally, by becoming a Master Gardener, you can contribute to the health and beauty of your community through various volunteer projects. These projects can include maintaining public gardens, organizing educational workshops, and participating in community beautification efforts. Not only do these activities benefit the environment, but they also provide a sense of fulfillment and connection with others who share your passion for gardening.

Furthermore, being a Master Gardener can lead to personal growth and development. You will have the opportunity to network with other gardening enthusiasts, attend gardening events and conferences, and even take on leadership roles within the Master Gardener program. This involvement can help boost your confidence, communication skills, and overall well-being, making the journey of becoming a Master Gardener a truly enriching one.
